Join us to discuss “Lamentation Poetry,” an excerpt from The Revolution of Imam al-Husayn by the late Lebanese scholar and jurist, Shaykh Muhammad Mahdi Shams al-Din.

The author examines several key ideas that may help our community to nurture a deep English-language expression of love for the Prophet (s) and his Family (‘a), including:

  1. the origin of Islamic lamentation poetry

  2. the role of the Prophet’s Family in its development

  3. the genre’s varied themes and motifs

  4. the genre’s religious and political importance

See you then, iA.
