Join us for a lecture by Abbas Muntaqim on the history of Muslims in the United States and key Muslims who struggle/d to lay the groundwork for black liberation. In addition, through dialogue, Abbas will challenge us to think of ways the entire community can build community infrastructure to support the liberation of the oppressed.

Guest Speaker

Abbas Muntaqim is an educator, culture worker, media professional and organizer. He is the co-founder of People’s Programs, an Oakland based New Afrikan organization that builds grassroots decolonization programs. He also co-hosts Hella Black Podcast and is the co-creator of Tales of The Town. He co-founded the Fannie Lou Hamer Black Resource Center at UC Berkeley taught African American studies there for about 5 years. Abbas follows an Islamic tradition that calls for the liberation of all oppressed people.
