A primer for memorializing the life and legacy of Imam Ḥusayn son of ʿAlī as we approach the month of Muḥarram.
We'll explore how the early Muslims were guided to memorialize the Tragedy of Karbalāʾ by the later Imams and how that same spirit has proliferated into various cultural forms today. We hope to spark a discussion about possibilities for elaborating on the traditional forms of mourning by believers in new contexts with new languages.
